Our Service 853 has been running for over 25 years and is our most prominent and popular route. It serves as the only direct bus link along the A40 and is ideal for days out in any of the vibrant villages along the route. With markets and romantic punt trips there is always something for everyone.
Whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure, our daily service from Gloucester/Cheltenham to Oxford will provide a great experience. There are 3 services on weekdays, 4 on Saturdays and 1 on Sunday. The times of these journeys vary slightly so please check the timetable by clicking the green box below.
This service is cash only where you simply show up and pay the driver the appropriate fare when you board. If you are travelling as part of a large group (10 people or more) please contact our office before you plan to travel so we can allocate seating.
We offer a midweek special: 2 adult day returns between Glos/Chelt and Oxford (or vice versa) for only £19! This offer is valid on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We also offer day return tickets. However, if you are returning on a different day, you need to purchase 2 separate single tickets. Sample fares can be found on our timetable.
We do not have the facility for pre-bookings, contactless payments or cheques. We only accept cash on this service. £50 notes can only be accepted for a 10 journey ticket between Glos/Chelt and Oxford or vice versa.
The coaches used on our Service 853 are stylish and modern with plenty of legroom and luxury seating. We do not, however, have an onboard toilet facility so please bear this in mind when travelling. There is room on the coach for small bags and underneath for large cases. Bikes are welcome for an extra £2.
Our drivers pride themselves on being helpful and polite as well as providing a smooth comfortable journey. The service runs through the beautiful Cotswold countryside of Burford, Northleach and Witney.
The stops listed as timing points on our timetable and the request stops on the opposite page are the only stops that Service 853 stops at. The service operates cross county where there are many stops along the way. To maintain a timetable, we have limited the numbers of stops we use.
Thankyou for using our Service 853.
